Richard B. Cheney, prominent public servant and businessman, is vice president. Cheney known as a popular figure on the scene of Washington politics, worked with four presidents in the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush decided to choose Cheney to be his running mate for the vice-presidential race in July 2000. He cited the experience and wisdom of Cheney. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to a president, served as an elected member of Congress as well as the secretary of defense. Republicans and Democrats all respect his honesty. Cheney said that his job as a member of the Bush administration is to be a transparent but disinterested adviser. Cheney declared his delight at accepting the Republican vice-presidential nominee. He stated that the future is bright for him working with a leader who can be a team player with individuals of different political views and with common objectives. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on 30 January 1941, in Lincoln Nebraska. At the age of 13, Richard moved his family out of Nebraska and moved to Casper which was where his dad worked as director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservation district.
